Gmail's Block feature is designed to keep unwanted senders out of Inbox by classifying their mail as spam. Spam is a folder you can open. It is also searchable. Retention is measured in weeks, not minutes.
So is Block "broken"?
Not for Google's stated goal (protect Inbox). It feels broken when your goal is "I never want this content in the account UI at all."
What to do
- Keep Block or a delete filter so Inbox stays clean.
- Empty Spam when you can, or
- Automate cleanup for those senders.
That third path is exactly where Bye sits product-wise.
